In 2009, the Town of Speedway paid the law firm of Barnes & Thornburg a total of $333,924 in legal fees, including $253,786 for work on the town's redevelopment project. That works out to $95.41 for each of the 3,500 homes in the town.
It is a mystery to me why small cities/towns like Speedway and Southport continue to employ big firms like Barnes & Thornburg which run up huge legal fees when smaller law firms could provide the municipality better legal representation at a fraction of the cost.
