Melina Kennedy |
Thus far today, Melina Kennedy's campaign has filed two large contribution, supplemental reports showing her raising an astonishing $96,300.
Under Indiana law, a candidate has to file a supplemental report any time they receive a contribution more than $1,000 during the final days of the campaign.
The $96,300 total includes a surprising $25,000 contribution from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Bloomberg is a former Republican turned Independent who until recently had employed former Indianapolis Mayor Steve Goldsmith as Deputy Mayor. Goldsmith, a Republican, is a close adviser of Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard.
Kennedy's reports are also noteworthy for a $10,000 contribution from Cindy Simon Skjodt.

I am always facinated how out of state politicians are eager to fund in-state races.
I would not want to be linked with the administration that had Steve Goldsmith's recent faux pas or that gave us Doctor of Public Safety Straub.
Did Straub work in NYC? I seem to possibly remember some connection, but his last job was in White Plains, which is far from New York City.
This is mostly inside baseball stuff. It's odd that Bloomberg would donate to her. But it won't impact voters either way.
Straub had no NYC connections. You are correct, Paul.
